Everyone likes to get the monthly cash flow that investing in dividends can get. It can make an investment feel like more of an investment. Below are some tips to help investors get more money from their dividend stocks.
1. Check A Company’s Fundamentals
Instead of going out and getting a list of dividend paying stocks to buy a much wiser thing to do is to check to see how fundamentally strong the company actually is. That way investors can avoid getting into bad companies simply because they offer stocks that pay a dividend.
2. Look To See If The Company Has Options
The great thing about holding stocks that have options is that you can take advantage of a strategy called covered call writing. This strategy can greatly increase the returns you make on a long term investment if it is used correctly.
3. Look At Selling Puts
Another overlooked strategy is selling naked puts. In fact most people consider this one of the riskiest strategies in the market. If used correctly though it can be even safer then simply buying the stock. When someone sells a put they take on the risk of getting called out at a specific strike price on or before a certain date.
If an investor already wants to get into the stock what it means is that they would be getting paid to be obligated to buy a stock that they where going to buy anyways.
4. Nothing Is Guaranteed
Of course nothing is guaranteed in life. But this uncertainty is also what makes investing into the stock market so rewarding. You make a little more by investing in something that has more risk. In the end there is no sure bet, but there are high probability investments.
